Terms of Service

Reversi Zen by Witzora · Version 11 · Last updated: 2026-09-21

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Reversi Zen application and web service ("the Service"), developed and operated by Witzora ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Sweden.

By downloading, installing, or using Reversi Zen, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the complete agreement between you and Witzora regarding your use of the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account in Reversi Zen. In jurisdictions where the minimum age for consenting to data processing is higher (for example, 16 in Germany and the Netherlands), you must meet that age requirement or have your parent's or guardian's consent.

By using the Service, you confirm that you meet the applicable age requirement in your jurisdiction.

3. Accounts

You can play without an account. Guest play runs entirely on your device and requires no registration.

To save your games, keep a rating, and appear on leaderboards, you create an account with Google, Apple, or email and password. If you do, you agree to:

  • Choose an appropriate alias (see Section 7)
  • Keep your account and password secure
  • Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account
  • Accept responsibility for activity under your account
  • Use one account per person

4. The Service

Reversi Zen is a digital implementation of the classic board game Reversi. It lets you:

  • Play Reversi against our bots, against someone on the same device, or online against other players whom you invite by their alias
  • Follow your results, statistics, and rating over time
  • Analyse finished games move by move
  • Appear on leaderboards and compare yourself with other players

The Service has no chat and no messaging. Your alias is visible to the people you play against and on leaderboards.

4.1 Test phase

Reversi Zen is under active development and describes itself as a prototype inside the app. During this phase, results produced by machine players may appear in leaderboards and aggregate statistics alongside human results, and views that include them say so. Features may change, and data collected during the test phase may be reset before public launch.

4.2 Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we may modify, update, or discontinue features with or without notice.

For EU consumers: this does not affect your statutory rights regarding the quality of digital content under the EU Digital Content Directive (Directive 2019/770). If the Service does not conform to what was agreed, you have the right to have it brought into conformity.

4.3 Updates

We may release updates that change functionality, fix problems, or add features. Some updates may be required in order to keep using the Service.

5. Price, Advertising, and Purchases

Reversi Zen is free to use. It contains no advertising and no in-app purchases.

If we ever introduce paid features, prices will be shown clearly in your local currency, payment will run through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, refunds will follow that store's rules, and we will update these Terms before anything is charged. If we ever introduce advertising, we will say so in these Terms and in the Privacy Policy first.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorised purpose
  • Use an offensive, discriminatory, or impersonating display name
  • Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, decompile, or exploit the Service
  • Create multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage
  • Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to produce results or manipulate your rating
  • Deliberately distort leaderboards or statistics
  • Interfere with the Service's operation or with other players' use of it
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation

Using a computer to play on your behalf deserves a word of its own: the point of a rating is that it describes you. Submitting engine-generated play as your own empties the leaderboard of meaning, and we treat it as a violation of these Terms.

7. Display Names and Moderation

You choose your alias yourself in the app, and you can change it. When you choose an alias it is reviewed automatically by an AI service (Google's Gemini) — see the Privacy Policy. Names that are offensive, discriminatory, or impersonate someone else may be rejected, changed or removed, and repeated abuse may cost you your account.

If we take moderation action on your account, we will tell you what we did, which rule it concerned, and how to contact us if you believe we were wrong. This follows the transparency requirements of the EU Digital Services Act.

8. Intellectual Property

Reversi is a public-domain board game. The Reversi Zen application — its design, code, graphics, game engine, and content — is owned by Witzora and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the app or its content
  • Remove or alter copyright or trademark notices
  • Use Witzora's trademarks without written permission
  • Create derivative works from our content
  • Sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service

Your display name remains yours. By using the Service you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display it within the Service, for example on leaderboards.

9. Suspension and Termination

9.1 By you

You may stop using the Service at any time. You delete your account and its data yourself in the app, under Profile → Delete account. The account is removed after seven days, and you can change your mind in your profile until then. The steps are also set out at witzora.com/zenreversi/delete-account, and if something cannot be done in the app you can email contact@witzora.com from the address associated with your account. What happens to your data is described in Section 8 of our Privacy Policy.

9.2 By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or illegal activity, harm other users, or attempt to exploit or attack the Service.

Due process: except in cases of severe violation, before permanently terminating an account we will tell you the reason, give you a reasonable opportunity to put it right, and explain how to appeal.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Witzora shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Damage resulting from service interruptions or downtime
  • The actions or content of other users

EU consumer protection: for users in the EU/EEA, this limitation does not exclude or limit liability for damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, nor any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable EU consumer protection law.

11. Dispute Resolution

11.1 Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict of law principles.

11.2 EU consumer rights

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the law of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms deprives you of those protections.

11.3 Online dispute resolution

EU consumers may use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/odr

11.4 Informal resolution first

Before taking formal steps, please contact us at contact@witzora.com. We will make a genuine effort to resolve your concern within 30 days.

12. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes your statutory consumer rights under applicable law, including the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), the EU Digital Content Directive (2019/770), and national consumer protection law in your country of residence.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have. By using Reversi Zen you acknowledge that you have read it. It is available:

  • In the app, under Privacy Policy in the menu
  • On the web: witzora.com/zenreversi/privacy

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will notify you in the app. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account.

15. General Provisions

15.1 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

15.2 Waiver

Our failure to enforce a right or provision is not a waiver of it.

15.3 Entire agreement

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Witzora regarding the Service, superseding prior agreements.

15.4 Assignment

We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms. You may not assign yours without our written consent.

16. Contact Us
